Puppy Arrival

When you purchase your puppy from Gramayre Groodles and Poodles, you can rest assured that your puppy has been loved and well cared for. Our puppies are always raised as part of our family on our large farm with plenty of space to run around and play. You can expect to receive your puppy after 8 weeks of age.

Prior to puppy’s departure and arrival

VET CHECKS.

Your puppy will receive two vet checks prior to their arrival. First will be shortly after birth to ensure they are born healthy with excellent heart beats, normal respiratory and great suckle reflex. 2nd is at 6 weeks of age where they are fully vet checked including their growth, weight, eyes, ears, teeth, skin, heart and respiratory etc.

MICROCHIPPED.

Your puppy will come microchipped. Your puppy will be registered to our property on microchipping with Animal Records in Victoria. This will then identify your puppy on the National Microchip Data Base. We will transfer your puppy online after purchase and you will receive a text message from Central Animal Records to confirm the transfer. You will receive a certificate via mail. Your puppy will then be required to be registered with your local council which now can be done in most states online.

WORMING.

Your puppy is wormed every 2 weeks (4 times) with Drontal puppy wormer. We will worm your puppy up until 8 weeks of age when they depart. You will then be required to worm them every two weeks until the age of 3 months and then once every month until 12 months of age. After this your puppy will only require worming once every three months.

MAKE SURE YOUR HOME AND YARDS ARE PUPPY PROOF.

1. All fences are secure without any holes or access underneath. If there is any place of escape, rest assured your puppy will find it.
2. The puppy does not have access to any small plastic containers, kid’s toys etc as they can easily choke on these items.
3. Keep any chemicals, oils, etc out of reach of the puppy.
4. Make sure your puppy cannot reach any power cords or computer leads etc because they will chew them with fatal consequences.
5. Make sure the puppy does not have any access to any fishpond, pool, dams or other areas of deep water where they cannot stand up with their head above the water. Your puppy has not learnt to swim at this stage of their lives.

VACCINATION.

Your puppy will have a C3 and C5 vaccination at 10 weeks of age. Your puppy is still at risk until all vaccinations/boosters have been received. It is extremely important that your puppy does not visit public places or socialise with other dogs outside the family environment until a couple of weeks after their booster shot which you will need to arrange at 10 weeks of age. The reason for this is you will not be aware of the vaccination status of other dogs your puppy may come in contact with. You need to make sure your puppy is protected.

PUPPY SCHOOL.

Puppy school is an important stage of your puppy’s life. Here your puppy will learn to interact and socialise with other puppies which is a very important part of their development. Your local Veterinarian Clinic will most probably run the schools or be able to advise of a local school in your area.
